Shamanism

A spiritual practice that is commonly referred to with specific cultures. An individual who is both priest and medium is called a shaman. A shaman may be initiated by (a) Self- selection, (b) Selected by an older shaman after surviving a life threatening incident, or (c) they inherit the role of shaman from a parent. Certain shamanics believe that good and evil spirits pervade the physical world and are summoned by a shaman. The shaman in North American tribes was the medicine man.

The shaman generally develops a variety of psychic faculties including aura reading, clairvoyance, divination, etc. Certain shamanic cultures require the development of internal vision as a prerequisite for becoming a shaman. This is because health diagnosis by aura reading, and healing in general, forms a major role.
